Abstract
The metaverse, an interconnected virtual realm encompassing virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and digital platforms, presents a novel avenue for enhancing road and traffic safety. This review paper explores the evolving interplay between the metaverse and transportation in general, and road/traffic safety in particular, outlining its potential, challenges, and future prospects.
